Project Overview

This building was originally an art studio built in the 1930s for the artist, Mary Winslow Black, in Monterey, California. The Great Room in the center of the building has a large fireplace at one end and a total wall composed of glass windows in the center of the wall that face to the north capturing diffused light for the artist.

A beautiful staircase provides access to the second floor which houses bedrooms and bathrooms of the original building along with a balcony surrounding the lower Great Room. The building characterizes Spanish colonial architecture typically seen in the Monterey Peninsula in the early 1900s.
